Choosing deterrence products for Australian commercial bird and pest management
Deterrence is the signal-led pest control outcome. Pest IT supplies spikes, wire, Shock Track, Tree Shock, visual deterrents, and laser across the Avepro and Eagle Eye signature ranges. Each system delivers a different signal that the bird perceives as leave. Welfare-compliant across the range. The right outcome where exclusion is overkill, where wildlife protection prevents harm, or where the architecture cannot be enclosed.
Why deterrence is signal-led
Spikes deny perching by physical signal. BirdWire denies safe landing by tensioned-wire signal. Shock Track delivers a strong but harmless tactile-electrical charge that conditions birds away from edges. Tree Shock conditions birds away from protected trees in heritage gardens, residential parks, and urban courtyards. Eagle Eye reflective pyramids disorient birds in flight by limiting their vision; the bird deviates and chooses an alternative destination. Avepro MAX Agricultural Laser frightens birds with intense spots and moving beams; lasers do not habituate. The bird perceives the signal and chooses to leave.
Spikes, wire, and Shock Track for ledge deterrence
Avepro Bird Spikes are the visible commercial standard for deterring pigeons and larger birds from ledges, parapets, beams, roofs, and other building surfaces. Available in Narrow (50mm), Wide (125mm), and Xtra-Wide (195mm) widths, in poly or stainless steel construction. Avepro BirdWire is the heritage and aesthetic-first option. Tensioned nylon-coated stainless steel wire on stainless steel posts; discreet, low-visibility. AvePro Shock Track is the premium edge protection: 8mm-high flexible track in four colours, ultra-discreet, fixed with AvePro Bond, energised by Solar or 240v energiser. Particularly effective for difficult species (crows, ravens, cockatoos, Indian mynas, starlings) and traditional pest birds (pigeons, sparrows, seagulls). 5-year warranty.
Tree Shock for protected wildlife
Tree Shock is the welfare-compliant electrified deterrent for protected wildlife in trees. The system conditions birds (cockatoos, lorikeets, flying foxes) and possums to leave the protected tree without harm. Common application: heritage trees, residential gardens, urban parks where roosting wildlife creates noise, mess, or property damage but where wildlife legislation prohibits exclusion or trapping. The deterrent shock teaches the animal to avoid the tree.
Eagle Eye visual deterrents and laser
Eagle Eye reflective pyramids rotate via electric motor or wind-driven bearing, sending beams in a menacing pattern. The light spectrum disorients birds in flight by limiting their vision significantly; the bird deviates and chooses an alternative destination. Eagle Eye is solar, 240v, or wind-powered. Multiple units recommended for full coverage, since a single unit leaves an unprotected area behind it as the sun moves East to West. Eagle Eye 10W Solar Kit, 240v Outdoor, Bird Breezer, Pro-Peller, Wind Kit, Red, and Silver cover commercial facades, agricultural fields, marine, and rooftop briefs. Avepro Indoor Bird Laser is the warehouse and loading-dock solution. Avepro MAX Agricultural and Industrial Laser covers fields, vineyards, orchards, and large commercial yards.
Welfare compliance and protected species
Welfare compliance is the deterrence promise. Avepro and Eagle Eye deterrents do not harm the animal. The bird perceives the signal and moves to alternative habitat. Cockatoos, possums, flying foxes, and lorikeets respond the same way as pest species. Where protected wildlife is present and exclusion would breach wildlife legislation, deterrence is the only legal option. Tree Shock specifically targets protected wildlife in tree contexts. Site Preparation runs ahead of every deterrent install, breaking the olfactory bond first so the deterrent does not fight an active attractant. The Possums collection, Cockatoos collection, and Flying Foxes collection cover Family-scope protected-wildlife work.
WHS, RCD protection, AS/NZS 3760
Mains-powered deterrents (Shock Track, Tree Shock, mains laser, mains visual) require RCD protection per AS/NZS 3000 and test-and-tag per AS/NZS 3760. Visible warning labels required on all electrified deterrents. Solar-powered deterrents (Solar Energiser for Shock Track, Eagle Eye Solar Kit) avoid mains compliance scope but require seasonal panel cleaning and battery replacement on cycle. Pest IT supplies the full electrical and labelling frame. The Installation Support collection holds the AvePro Bond cartridges, Digital Track Tester, energisers, and warning labels.
How to specify the program
Use the Spec Your Project form with site list, target species, zone map, wildlife conditions, and aesthetic constraints. Pest IT specs the deterrence program with you through the Free Design Service. The Avepro and Eagle Eye order matched to each zone, the WHS plan, the test-and-tag schedule, and the works register your auditor will accept all come back in the consult. Multi-zone briefs benefit from layered programs: spikes or wire at high-value zones, Shock Track at parapets and ledges, visual deterrents at boundary, Tree Shock in protected-wildlife zones, laser for agricultural or indoor warehouse.
