Integrated Pest Management Role

Seasonal visual deterrent for open agricultural and roof areas. Most effective when deployed after pest birds arrive and before they establish a feeding pattern. Not a standalone permanent solution. Recommended alongside attractant removal (food, water, nesting material) and, for critical sections, physical exclusion of the highest-value rows. Move the devices every 2 weeks around the treated area to avoid habituation.

Up to 1.5 hectares per unit. Use multiple units for areas larger than 1.5 hectares.

Professional Installation

Wait until pest birds have arrived at the site before installing.
Erect telescopic pole along the boundary of the area to be protected.
Attach kite to pole top so it can move freely in the wind.
Move the unit 3-5m at least every 5-10 days to prevent habituation.

Important: Bird Scarer Kites require active management to remain effective. Birds are intelligent and will acclimatise to a static deterrent over time. To maintain effectiveness: install only after pest birds have arrived at the site, not before. Move the unit at least 3 to 5 metres every 5 to 10 days. Take the unit down temporarily from time to time to keep birds alert. Early installation allows birds to assess and habituate to the kite before the critical protection window opens.

For areas larger than 1.5 hectares, deploy multiple units spaced to provide overlapping coverage. For critical sections within a larger property (high-value rows, ripening blocks), combining kites with physical exclusion such as AvePro Bird Netting 50mm provides the strongest protection.

Warranty

Pest IT warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. This warranty applies under normal use and installation conditions. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, incorrect installation, modification, or normal wear and tear. Nothing in this warranty limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
