Deterrence convinces the animal to move on. Welfare-compliant. Right where exclusion is overkill.

Avepro and Eagle Eye deterrents are welfare-compliant under Australian standards. Mains-powered units (Shock Track, Tree Shock, mains laser, mains visual) require RCD protection and AS/NZS 3760 test-and-tag. Visible warning labels required on all electrified deterrents per AS/NZS 3000.

Without harming the animal, AvePro and Eagle Eye deterrents protect the site through visual, wind-driven, and physical means. The bird perceives the spike, wire, shock, visual, or laser signal and moves to alternative habitat. Cockatoos and other protected natives respond the same way as pest species. Tree Shock specifically deters protected possums, cockatoos, and flying foxes from trees without breaching wildlife legislation. Most high-pressure briefs run a layered program: spikes or wire at high-value zones, Shock Track at parapets and ledges, visual deterrents at the boundary, laser at dawn and dusk.

Deterrence FAQs

Bird and pest deterrence: spikes, wire, shock, laser, visual deterrents. Avepro and Eagle Eye welfare-compliant Australian commercial range.

Deterrence is signal-led. Each Avepro and Eagle Eye system delivers a different signal that the bird interprets as leave. Spikes deliver a physical signal that prevents perching. BirdWire delivers a low-visibility tensioned-wire signal that prevents safe landing. Shock Track delivers a tactile-electrical charge that conditions birds away from edges. Tree Shock conditions birds away from protected trees. Eagle Eye reflective pyramids deliver a visual signal that disorients birds in flight. Avepro MAX Agricultural Laser delivers an intense moving-beam signal that birds do not habituate to. The bird perceives the signal and moves to alternative habitat. None of the systems harm the bird. Cockatoos and other protected natives respond the same way as pest pigeons.

The pestie's choice between deterrence and exclusion comes down to three factors. First, whether the architecture is enclosable. If yes, the Exclusion collection holds Avepro Bird Netting and Solar Mesh as the strongest binary outcome. Second, whether protected wildlife is present. If yes, welfare-compliant deterrence may be the only legal option because exclusion can breach wildlife legislation. Tree Shock is the welfare-compliant deterrent for protected possums, cockatoos, flying foxes, and lorikeets in trees. Third, whether the brief is high-pressure or broad-coverage. High-pressure zones (food production, audit-graded facades, solar PV) take exclusion. Broad-coverage briefs (commercial facade, agricultural field) take deterrence at boundary plus exclusion at high-pressure zones.

Site Preparation runs ahead of every Avepro and Eagle Eye deterrent install. Birds bond to a roost by scent; if the bond is intact when the deterrent goes in, the deterrent fights an active attractant and ages prematurely. Avepro breaks the bond. Then the deterrent lands on a substrate that no longer reads as roost. Installation Support holds the AvePro Bond cartridges, Digital Track Tester, energisers, and consumables that run alongside on every install.
