Choosing bird spikes for an Australian commercial install
Bird spikes remove the perch surface. The bird cannot land. The Avepro range covers three formats sized to common Australian commercial and heritage briefs.
When to choose Avepro Bird Spikes stainless
Stainless steel spikes are the commercial standard for visible high-traffic facades, signage, and architectural features. Stainless lasts decades, handles coastal salt, and carries the most distinct deterrent profile. Run stainless where durability and visibility justify the visual.
When to choose Avepro Bird Spikes Poly Base
Poly Base is the heritage and aesthetic-sensitive option. The base can be colour-matched to masonry and the strip carries a lower visual profile than stainless. Heritage councils typically accept Poly Base over stainless on visible heritage facades.
When to choose Avepro Gutter Spikes
Gutter Spikes carry the angle and base width to fit gutter edges where the spike strip needs to follow the catchment line. Standard ledge spikes do not fit gutters cleanly. Use Gutter Spikes for any install that follows a catchment edge.
Adhesive or drilled fix
Most commercial spike installs use Avepro Silicone Bond or Clear Bond Poly to fix the strip without drilling. Adhesive is required on heritage facades, glass, and surfaces that cannot be drilled. Mechanical fixings are acceptable on non-heritage masonry and steel.
How to specify the install with us
Use the Spec Your Project form with photos, ledge perimeter measurements, and any heritage status. We will send back a spike order, the matching adhesive, and a works register your building owner or auditor will accept.
