Maintenance

Inspect at least once every 24 hours when set. Check trap mechanism and trigger sensitivity before each deployment. Clean after use. After catch-and-release, identify and block possum entry points to prevent re-entry - trapping without exclusion will result in repeat captures.

A permit is required in most states to trap a possum, and trapping must be carried out by or under the supervision of a licenced wildlife controller in QLD, WA, and NT. In all states, trapped possums must be released on the same property within 50 metres of the capture point, after sunset. Relocation to another site is illegal. Pest IT recommends engaging a licenced pest controller for any possum management program. Check the rules in your state before deploying this product.

About Viper Possum Trap

Possums are protected native wildlife in all Australian states and territories. A permit is required in most states. In QLD, WA, and NT, trapping must be carried out by or under the supervision of a licensed wildlife controller. In all states, trapped possums must be released on the same property within 50 metres of the capture point, after sunset. Relocation to another site is illegal. The Viper Possum Trap is a collapsible live capture trap at 4.6kg. A lower-cost possum-specific option alongside the Magnet Trap Possum and Cat Magnet. For the pest manager building a possum management offering, the lower cost per trap makes it practical to carry spares and deploy across multiple sites without a significant equipment investment. The Magnet Trap Possum and Cat Magnet (6kg) also handles feral cats. Choose based on whether the program requires both species capability. Monitor all traps daily. Captured possums must have access to food and water. Handle all captured possums with care: they are native wildlife, not feral pests. Confirm the licensing and permit requirements in your state before quoting possum work.

Warranty

Pest IT warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. It does not cover misuse, incorrect installation, modification, normal wear and tear, or consumable components. Nothing in this warranty limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
