About BRC Gluetrap Insect Trap
A zapper in a food preparation zone fails the audit. It is that straightforward. Australian food safety standards require glueboard capture in food preparation and food contact areas because electric zappers scatter insect fragments. The BRC Gluetrap is the unit type that meets the requirement: silent, glueboard-based, and designed for exactly these environments. UVA lamp attraction draws flies to a silent, adhesive glueboard. No fragments, no discharge noise, no chemical residue. Flies are captured intact. For the pest manager, that matters twice: first, intact flies on the glueboard allow species identification at each service visit, which is the evidence trail that traces infestation sources back to the building. Second, a glueboard with documented catch data at every visit is the monitoring record the food safety auditor expects to see. A gap in that record is a gap in the program. GT20 (single 20W lamp) covers rooms up to approximately 40 to 60 square metres. GT40 (dual 20W lamps) handles larger spaces and higher fly pressure. Undersizing the unit for the space means reduced catch rates, which means the glueboard evidence is weaker at audit time and the pest manager is defending a program that is not performing to spec. Choose the right size for the zone. If the space is borderline, size up. 316 stainless steel for food production and commercial kitchens where every surface must be cleanable to food safety standards. White powder coat for healthcare, office, and hospitality environments where a clinical aesthetic is preferred. European designed and manufactured by BRC. The lamp and the glueboard are the two maintenance commitments that keep this unit performing. Replace the UVA lamp annually: UV output degrades before the lamp visually fails, and a degraded lamp reduces attraction across every service cycle until it is changed. Replace glueboards when two thirds full or at each scheduled visit. A full glueboard in a food zone is not just reduced catch performance: it is a contamination risk that an auditor will note. For wet, harsh, or wash-down environments where the unit itself is exposed to cleaning, step up to the BRC Inoxtrap 30 (IP65 rated).
