Spec Your Project

From cocktail garnish to orchard gate, fruit fly work splits across two contexts.

Fruit flies cluster around bar mats, fresh produce displays, kitchen drains, fermenting fruit, and orchard gates. The vinegar fly side leans on the Viper Fruit Fly Trap Bottle and drain hygiene in food premises and home kitchens. The Queensland Fruit Fly side leans on biosecurity-grade documentation, MAT block deployment, and the Viper Fruit Tree Premium Net for orchard exclusion. Pest IT supplies both contexts through the Viper signature range.

Fruit fly programs sit across food-premises Public Health Acts (state-by-state), interstate Quarantine zones for Queensland Fruit Fly, and FSANZ overlap for food-premises contexts. Vinegar fly capture supports HACCP / BRCGS / SQF audit documentation. The trade pitch frames identification first (vinegar fly vs Queensland Fruit Fly), then drain hygiene + trap deployment + biosecurity-grade record set. Pest IT supplies the audit documentation pack auditors look for in food-premises fruit fly programs.

Fruit Flies Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between vinegar fly, pomace fly, and Queensland Fruit Fly?

Vinegar fly (Drosophila melanogaster and other Drosophila spp.) and pomace fly are the small fruit fly species that swarm fresh produce, fermenting fruit, beer / wine spills, and drain biofilm. They breed in damp organic residue; the kitchen drain and the bar drip tray are classic sources. Queensland Fruit Fly (Bactrocera tryoni) is a much larger pest with a completely different commercial register. Orchard / vineyard / vegetable crop biosecurity. The Fruit Fly + the moth identification frame Pest IT supplies carries the photo-led species comparison at field-pestie depth.

Vinegar fly at the cocktail garnish. Queensland Fruit Fly at the orchard gate. Identification, monitoring, biosecurity-grade documentation.

Fruit flies (Drosophila and Bactrocera) sit across two unrelated trade contexts. The vinegar fly side depends on hospitality kitchens, cocktail bars, fresh produce, and kitchen drains. The Queensland Fruit Fly side depends on orchards, vineyards, and vegetable crops under interstate Quarantine zones. Same name, two different pests, two different programs.
